The Kindred guide to flea prevention

A clear, season-by-season approach to protecting your pet and your home.

The best appointments often begin before you leave home. A few calm, repeatable steps can change how your companion experiences the journey—and help your veterinary team understand them more clearly.

Begin with what your pet already knows

Make unfamiliar objects part of everyday life. Leave a carrier open in a favourite room, add familiar bedding, and reward curiosity without closing the door. For dogs, practise brief car visits that do not always end at the clinic.

Progress looks less like perfect behaviour and more like a pet who can recover quickly after something new.

Bring the story from home

Changes in appetite, movement, sleep, or behaviour can be hard to reproduce in a consult room. Short videos, a medication list, and notes about when symptoms appear give your team a fuller picture.

Tell us what helps

If your pet feels safer on the floor, with a particular treat, or away from other animals, say so. Kindred can arrange quieter appointment times and waiting-room alternatives. For significant anxiety, pre-visit medication may also help.

A note from Kindred

Care should feel this considered.
